The Spokane String Quartet closes its season with the “Father of the String Quartet” and works by two 20th century British titans. No season would be complete without a work by Joseph Haydn, who was “instrumental” in the development of most classical music forms enjoyed today, including the symphony and various forms of chamber music. Also on the program are works by Benjamin Britten and Edward Elgar.
Program:
• Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in C Major, Op. 20, No. 2
• Benjamin Britten: 3 Divertimenti for String Quartet (1933)
• Edward Elgar: String Quartet in E Minor, Op. 83
