Jayanthi Raman Dance Company presents NAVARASA Kalinga Nardana, an Indian dance theater production. The production showcases the theme of Navarasa – the nine moods codified in dance literature, Natya Sastra. The theme is overlaid on the story of Lord Krishna’s battle and triumph over the snake Kalinga or Kaliya. The battle between the snake Kaliya and Lord Krishna has been told through many generations. Choreographed in Bharatha Natyam and the rarely seen Chau classical dance styles with exceptional original music score, this production is unique in its concept, instrumentation, and choreography.
